Bell City is a city in northeastern Stoddard County, Missouri, United States. It was founded as a sawmill town circa 1900, and lies at the foothills of Crowley's Ridge on Missouri Route 91. The population was 448 at the 2010 census. Howard Pikey is the current mayor.
History
A post office called Bell City has been in operation since 1890. The community was named after G. A. and R. S. Bell, proprietors of a local sawmill. Bell City was situated along the St. Louis Southwestern Railway.
Geography
Bell City is located at 37°1′26″N 89°49′10″W / 37.02389°N 89.81944°W (37.023820, -89.819457).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.55 square miles (1.42 km2), all land.

2010 census
As of the census of 2010, there were 448 people, 182 households, and 124 families living in the city. The population density was 814.5 inhabitants per square mile (314.5/km2). There were 212 housing units at an average density of 385.5 per square mile (148.8/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 94.64% White, 1.79% Black or African American, 1.34% Native American, and 2.23% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.22% of the population.
There were 182 households, of which 37.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.3% were married couples living together, 12.6% had a female householder with no husband present, 8.2% had a male householder with no wife present, and 31.9% were non-families. 26.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.98.
The median age in the city was 36.6 years. 25% of residents were under the age of 18; 11.7% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 25.3% were from 25 to 44; 26.1% were from 45 to 64; and 12.1% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 50.7% male and 49.3% female.
