History of Bellevue
Bellevue started as a small settlement around 1882. The Orton family helped it grow. It became a railroad shipping station, which was important for moving goods.
Over the years, the community faced challenges and times of growth. In 1902, Bellevue officially became an incorporated city. However, a powerful tornado in 1906 caused a lot of damage. Despite this, Bellevue rebuilt and continues to be a small, growing town today.

Bellevue is located in the southeastern part of Clay County. You can find it at 33°38′7″N 98°0′56″W / 33.63528°N 98.01556°W.
The city covers a total area of about 2.18 square kilometers (0.84 square miles). All of this area is land. There are no large bodies of water within the city limits.
Bellevue is situated right on U.S. Route 287. This highway connects it to bigger cities. It's about 78 miles (126 km) northwest of Fort Worth. It's also about 36 miles (58 km) southeast of Wichita Falls.
