Exploring Beltrami's Borders

Beltrami has clear boundaries that help you know where it is. To the north, you'll find Broadway Street NE. Interstate 35W forms the eastern edge. East Hennepin Avenue is the southern border. On the west side, it's bordered by Central Avenue and Harrison Street NE.

How Neighbors Work Together

In 2023, the neighborhood groups for Beltrami and Northeast Park decided to join forces. They merged to create a new group called the Lower Northeast Neighborhoods Association. They did this to share their money and resources. The city of Minneapolis had been giving less financial help. Other nearby neighborhood groups, Logan Park and St. Anthony East, chose not to join this new organization.

Who Lives in Beltrami?

The people living in Beltrami have changed a lot since 1980. From 1980 to 2000, almost every group of people, except white residents, saw their numbers grow. In 1980, white residents made up 92 percent of the neighborhood. By 2000, this number was 61 percent.

Even though there were fewer white residents in 2000, there were more Black residents. The Black population grew from a very small number in 1980 to 11 percent in 2000. The number of Hispanic and Asian residents also increased during this time. Both groups went from about 1 or 2 percent to 10 percent each. This shows that Beltrami has become a more diverse place over the years.
