History of Belvidere
Belvidere began to form in 1872. This was when a new railroad line was being built through the area. An official from the Saint Joseph and Grand Island Railroad gave the settlement its name.
The railroad company often named its stations in alphabetical order. Belvidere might have been named after other towns. These towns include Belvidere, Illinois or Belvidere, New Jersey.
