Ferhat Yılmaz (born on February 25, 1991), known by his stage name Ben Fero, is a Turkish rapper and songwriter. He is famous for his energetic hip hop and trap music.

Early Life and Discovering Rap

Ben Fero was born in Bonn, Germany, on February 25, 1991. His family moved back to Turkey in 1994 and settled in İzmir. When he was about 8 years old, he started listening to rap music, especially artists like Tupac Shakur. This is how he first fell in love with the genre.

He attended Sabanci University from 2009 to 2015. After finishing his studies, he worked as a sales manager for a while.

Starting His Music Career

In April 2018, Ben Fero released his very first song, "Mahallemiz Esmer." A few months later, in August 2018, he released another song called "Kimlerdensin." These songs made him realize he wanted to focus on music full-time, so he left his job.

He became friends with other popular artists like Ezhel and YouTuber Berkcan Güven. This helped him become more well-known in the music world. On November 30, 2018, he released his third single, "3 2 1." Just two days later, on December 2, 2018, this song became the most listened to song on Spotify in Turkey!

First Album Success

On February 20, 2019, Ben Fero released his first studio album, Orman Kanunları. This album included his earlier hit singles. On the day it came out, all the songs from the album were in the top 12 most listened to songs on Spotify Turkey. This was a big achievement, as he was the first artist in Turkey to have all songs from one album enter the top charts at the same time.

One of the songs, "Biladerim İçin," was especially popular and stayed at the top of the music charts for many weeks. He also changed the name of his song "Akalım" to "Demet Akalın" as a fun tribute to the famous Turkish pop singer Demet Akalın.

Awards and Performances

Ben Fero's talent was recognized when he received the "Best Newcomer Artist" award on May 9, 2019, at the 16th Radio Boğaziçi Music Awards.

He also performed at a big event on January 19, 2020. He sang at the Sinan Erdem Dome after the 2020 Basketbol Süper Ligi All-Star Game, which is a major basketball event.

On September 25, 2020, he released his first EP (which is like a mini-album) called Yabani. He continues to release new music and perform for his fans.
