Berhampore, New Zealand

Berhampore is a suburb located in Wellington, New Zealand. It sits in the southern part of the city. This suburb is about four kilometres from the city centre. It is also two kilometres from the coast of Cook Strait.

Berhampore is surrounded by other suburbs. These include Vogeltown, Newtown, Melrose, Island Bay, Kingston, and Mornington. The suburb was named after a place called Berhampore in Bengal. This was a battlefield during the Battle of Plassey in 1757.

Around Berhampore, you'll find the Berhampore Golf Course. There's also a large green belt area. This green belt is known as the town belt. It has many walkways and tracks that connect to other areas. Berhampore also has some of Wellington's best sports fields. These are on Adelaide Road and include the national hockey stadium.
