Berlingen is a small town, also called a municipality, in the Frauenfeld District of Thurgau canton in Switzerland. It is located on the Untersee, which is the western part of Lake Constance.

History of Berlingen

Berlingen was first written about in the year 894. Back then, it was called Berenwanc. Later, in 1267, its name changed to Bernanch. It kept the name Bernang until the 1700s.

Berlingen covers an area of about 3.56 square kilometers (1.37 square miles). A large part of this land, about 58%, is covered by forests. Another 30% is used for farming. About 11% of the land has buildings or roads on it.

The town is in the Frauenfeld District. It sits on a river delta in the Untersee area of Lake Constance. Berlingen itself is the main village in this municipality.
