Playing Career
Club Football Journey
Bernd Patzke started his football journey in youth teams. He played as a defender, which means his job was to stop the other team from scoring goals. From 1962 to 1964, he played for Standard Liège.
Later, he joined 1860 Munich in 1964. He played there until 1969, making 136 appearances. After that, he moved to Hertha BSC from 1969 to 1971.
International Appearances
Bernd Patzke was a key player for the West Germany national team. He was part of the squad for two major tournaments. These were the 1966 World Cup in England and the 1970 World Cup in Mexico. Overall, he played 24 games for his country between 1965 and 1971.
Playing in South Africa
After his time with Hertha BSC, Bernd Patzke played football in South Africa. He joined clubs like Durban City and Hellenic F.C.. He later returned to 1860 Munich in 1974 for a short period.
Managerial Career
After his playing days, Bernd Patzke became a football manager. He coached several teams over the years. These included ESV Ingolstadt and FK Pirmasens.
