Beth Broderick, born Elizabeth Alice Broderick on February 24, 1959, is an American actress. She is best known for playing Zelda Spellman in the popular TV show Sabrina the Teenage Witch from 1996 to 2003. She also had important roles in other TV series like Lost (2005–2008) and Under the Dome (2013).

Early Life and Education

Beth Broderick was born in Falmouth, Kentucky. She grew up in Huntington Beach, California. From a young age, she was very interested in theater and acting. She finished high school when she was sixteen. After that, she studied at the American Academy of Arts in Pasadena, California.

Acting Career

Beth Broderick started her acting career in the 1980s. Her first big role was in the movie Stealing Home (1988). She played a character named Leslie. In 1990, she appeared in The Bonfire of the Vanities.

Movies and TV Shows

Beth Broderick has been in many movies. Some of her film roles include Man of the Year (1995) and Fools Rush In (1997). In Fools Rush In, she acted alongside Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek. She also appeared in Psycho Beach Party (2000).

On television, Beth Broderick has had many guest roles. She appeared in shows like Married... with Children, The 5 Mrs. Buchanans, and Hearts Afire. She was also in an episode of Northern Exposure in 1992. Later, she had a recurring role as Diane Janssen in the popular ABC series Lost. She also appeared in CSI: Miami and Supernatural. More recently, she had guest roles on Leverage and Castle. In 2019, she was in a Hallmark Channel movie called "Sister of the Bride".

Theater Work

Besides movies and TV, Beth Broderick has performed in many theater plays. Some of these include The Mousetrap and The Lion in Winter in New York. She also co-produced a play called Zastrozzi, the Master of Discipline. She recently starred in a one-woman show called Bad Dates in Chicago.

Writing and Directing

Beth Broderick is also a writer. She has written several works with Dennis Bailey, including A Cup of Joe and Wonderland. She has also worked as a director. She directed three episodes of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. These episodes were "Making the Grade" (2001), "Guilty!" (2002), and "Cloud Ten" (2002).

Personal Life and Charity Work

Beth Broderick married Scott Paetty on April 29, 2005.

She is a founding member of Momentum. This was one of the first groups in New York to help people with AIDS. She also helped start the Celebrity Action Council of the City Light Women's Rehabilitation Program. This program helps homeless women. It supports them in overcoming challenges and learning new job skills.

As of 2014, Beth Broderick lived in Austin, Texas. There, she continued to act in independent films and local theater.
