Bhim Nidhi Tiwari (1911–1973) was a very important Nepali writer. He was a famous poet, novelist, and playwright. He was known for his strong belief in making society better. He wrote against things like smoking, drinking, and gambling. He published more than 38 books and plays.
It's good to know that this Bhim Nidhi Tiwari is not the same person as the Nepalese Communist leader from the 1980s who had the same name.

Life of Bhim Nidhi Tiwari
Bhim Nidhi Tiwari was born in 1911 in Dillibazar, Kathmandu, Nepal. His parents were Lal Nidhi Tiwari and Nanda Kumari Tiwari. He worked for the government for 32 years. He was a section officer in the Ministry of Education. Later, he became an Assistant Secretary.
Promoting Nepali Arts
He started a publishing company called "Nepal Sahitya Press." This company later joined with "Pashupati Press." He also created the Nepal Natak Sangh. This organization helps to promote Nepalese literature and drama. It supports plays and writing in Nepal.
In 1966, he went to a UNESCO meeting in East Asia. He represented Nepal's Ministry of Education there. The meeting was about copyright issues. Copyright protects writers' and artists' work. He also traveled with King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah on a trip. They visited the Netherlands, West Germany, and Karachi.
Works by Bhim Nidhi Tiwari
Tiwari wrote many different types of stories and poems. He wrote short stories, novels, poems, songs, and funny stories called satires. His writings help us understand Nepali life, culture, old stories, and history.
Awards and Recognition
Bhim Nidhi Tiwari received many awards for his work. He won the Madan Puraskar in 1960. This is a very important literary award in Nepal. He also received other honors like "Prakhyan Trishakti Patta" and "Rajyabisekh Padak." His historical plays, "Silanyas," "Matokomaya," and "Yasashvisav," also won awards.
Famous Poems and Stories
One of his most famous poems is called "Dagbatti." In this poem, he shares a very personal story. He was only seven years old when his mother died. He describes being taken to the cremation grounds at night. His head was shaved, and he felt many emotions as his mother's body was cremated.
