History of Biehle
In the 1840s, families from Germany who were Catholic came to this area. They settled here and called it Biehle Station. One of the first people to live here was Maurus Biehle, who was from Germany.
In the 1850s, a church made of logs was built on land he gave. Later, in 1869, a new stone church called St. Maurus Catholic Church was built. A priest named Father Joseph Hellwing started working there full-time in 1870.
In 1925, a very strong storm called the Tri-State Tornado hit Biehle. It damaged the church roof and many homes. Sadly, some people in the town lost their lives. In 2003, Biehle officially stopped being a village. This means it was 'disincorporated'.
