The Big Classic was a popular hamburger sold by Wendy's. Wendy's is a well-known international fast-food restaurant chain. This sandwich was created to be a larger, more filling burger. It was especially popular with young adults looking for a "heartier" meal.
The Big Classic was one of only two main hamburger options offered by Wendy's for a long time. It was designed to compete with other big burgers, like the Burger King Whopper.

What Was the Big Classic?
The Big Classic was a tasty hamburger. It featured a quarter-pound (about 113 grams) beef patty. This patty was topped with fresh lettuce and juicy tomatoes. It also had creamy mayonnaise and tangy ketchup. Sliced onions and crisp pickles added more flavor. The burger was served on a special Kaiser style roll. You could also ask for cheese to be added if you wanted!
Big Classic Sandwich Types
- Big Bacon Classic: This version was just like the original. But it had delicious Bacon added to it.
History of the Big Classic
The Big Classic first appeared in September 1986. It was part of a big change for Wendy's. At first, the sandwich came in a special container. This container was made of styrofoam and fit the sandwich perfectly.
However, people became worried about the environment. So, Wendy's changed the packaging. They started using a foil wrapper instead. This wrapper became a well-known part of the Big Classic.
Years later, the recipe for the Big Classic changed. Two strips of bacon were added to the burger. Its name was then changed to the Big Bacon Classic.
In June 2007, the Big Bacon Classic was replaced on the menu. A new burger called the Baconator took its place. Even after it was replaced, some people could still order the Big Bacon Classic.
The Big Bacon Classic made a return to Wendy's menu in October 2009. It was then called the Bacon Deluxe. This version had four strips of bacon instead of two. The Bacon Deluxe was available until June 2012. It was then replaced by the Son of Baconator. Today, if you want a similar burger, you can add three pieces of bacon to a single, double, or triple classic cheeseburger.
