The Big Valley Creation Science Museum is a special museum in Big Valley, Alberta, Canada. It focuses on ideas about how the world and life began. The museum shares a view called creation science and young-earth creationism. This means they believe the Earth and everything on it were created by a higher power, not through evolution over millions of years. It was the first museum of its kind to open permanently in Canada.

Museum History
The Big Valley Creation Science Museum first opened its doors on June 5, 2007. It was started by Harry Nibourg, who worked in the oil fields. The museum building is about 83 square meters (900 square feet) in size. It cost around $300,000 Canadian dollars to build.
The idea for the museum began in 1995. This was after Harry Nibourg met Ian Juby. Ian Juby created a traveling museum called the "Creation Museum of Canada." Vance Nelson, who owns Canada's largest traveling creation science museum, helped plan the original displays for the Big Valley museum. When it first opened in 2007, the museum welcomed between 40 and 80 visitors each week.
What You Can See: Exhibits
The museum has different displays that show its unique ideas about creation.
Life's Design: Flagellum and DNA
One exhibit is interactive and shows the complexity of the bacterium flagellum. This is like a tiny motor that helps some bacteria move. The museum also shows DNA, which is the building block of life. These displays suggest that the complex design of these tiny parts of life points to a creator.
Ancient Stories: Royal Family and Fossils
Another part of the museum has scrolls. These scrolls show how the family tree of the royal family is supposedly connected to Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve are figures from religious texts.
There are also exhibits about fossils. Fossils are the remains of ancient plants and animals. The museum uses fossils to support the idea of the Genesis flood. This is a story from the Bible about a great flood that covered the Earth.
Visiting the Museum: Fees and Hours
As of August 2025, the museum is open only by appointment. This is because they do not have enough money to hire full-time staff.
