Bijan Robinson (born January 30, 2002) is an American professional football player. He plays as a running back for the Atlanta Falcons in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Texas Longhorns. In 2022, he won the Doak Walker Award and was named a unanimous All-American. The Falcons chose him as the eighth overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft.

Early Life and High School Football
Bijan Robinson was born on January 30, 2002, in Tucson, Arizona. He went to Salpointe Catholic High School in Tucson. While playing high school football, he set an amazing state record. He ran for 7,036 yards and scored 114 touchdowns.
During his senior year, he was named the Arizona Gatorade Football Player of the Year. He rushed for 2,235 yards and scored 38 touchdowns that season. Bijan was also chosen to play in the 2020 All-American Bowl, which features top high school players. He was considered a top recruit and decided to play college football at the University of Texas at Austin.
College Career Highlights
Bijan Robinson quickly made an impact when he started playing for the Texas Longhorns in 2020. As a freshman, he played a big role on the team.
Freshman Year Success (2020)
In 2020, Bijan was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2020 Alamo Bowl. He ran for 183 yards and scored a touchdown in that game against Colorado. He finished his first college season with 703 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. He also caught two receiving touchdowns.
Becoming a Star Player (2021-2022)
In 2021, Bijan continued to shine. In one game against TCU, he carried the ball 35 times for 216 yards and scored two touchdowns. For the entire 2021 season, he rushed for 1,127 yards. His great performance earned him a spot on the All-Big 12 Conference first team.
His best college season was in 2022. Against Kansas, he had an incredible game, running for 243 yards and scoring four touchdowns. That year, he led the Big 12 conference in both rushing yards (1,580) and rushing touchdowns (18).
Bijan received two major honors in 2022:
- He was named a unanimous All-American. This means he was recognized as one of the best players in the country by all major selectors.
- He won the Doak Walker Award, which is given to the best running back in college football.

Professional NFL Career
After his successful college career, Bijan Robinson entered the 2023 NFL draft. He was chosen by the Atlanta Falcons as the eighth player picked overall. This was a very high pick, showing how talented he is.
Joining the Atlanta Falcons (2023)
On May 12, 2023, Bijan signed his first professional contract with the Falcons. It was a four-year deal worth nearly $22 million.
He made his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers. In that game, he rushed for 56 yards and caught six passes for 27 yards. He also scored his first career receiving touchdown, helping the Falcons win 24–10. In Week 2, he ran for 129 yards against the Green Bay Packers.
As a rookie, Bijan started in 16 games. He finished the 2023 season with 976 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. He also caught 58 passes for 487 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. Because of his great first year, he was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
Second NFL Season (2024)
In Week 18 of the 2024 season, Bijan had a huge game against the Panthers. He carried the ball 28 times for 170 yards and scored two touchdowns. For the entire 2024 season, he rushed for 1,456 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. He also had 61 receptions for 431 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. He finished third in the NFL for rushing yards and fifth for rushing touchdowns.
Personal Life
Bijan Robinson is a Christian. His mother named him after a famous Iranian fashion designer named Bijan. The name "Bijan" is a Persian word that means "hero."
His great uncle is Paul Robinson, who also played as a running back in the NFL for teams like the Cincinnati Bengals. In 2022, Bijan started his own brand of gourmet dijon mustard called "Bijan Mustardson." He also sells fun merchandise and makes funny advertisements for it.
