Binnein Mòr is the tallest mountain in the Mamores range. These mountains are found between Glen Nevis and Loch Leven. They are located in the Highlands of Scotland. Binnein Mòr is about 5 kilometers (3 miles) northeast of the village of Kinlochleven.
The top of Binnein Mòr looks a bit like a pyramid. It stands above the quiet, empty upper part of Glen Nevis. To the south, a small, narrow ridge connects it to the main mountain range. There's also a smaller peak nearby, sometimes called Binnein Mòr south top. Another smaller peak is Sgòr Eilde Beag, which is 956 meters (3,136 feet) tall. It is about 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) to the southeast and marks the eastern end of the Mamores range.
About Binnein Mòr
Binnein Mòr is the highest mountain in the Mamores. It reaches a height of 1,130 meters (3,707 feet). This makes it a Munro, which is a Scottish mountain over 3,000 feet (914.4 meters) tall. It is also a Marilyn, meaning it has a certain amount of "prominence" (it stands out from the land around it).
Climbing Binnein Mòr
Even though it's the tallest, not many people visit Binnein Mòr. This is because it's a bit far away from towns and roads. Most climbers start their journey from Kinlochleven. They often climb Binnein Mòr along with Na Gruagaichean. This is another mountain just to its west.
