Birce Akalay's Life and Career
Birce Akalay was born in Istanbul, Turkey. She started learning ballet when she was only four years old. At sixteen, she had an injury. She later graduated from Pera Fine Arts High School in 2003.
Birce then studied theatre at Istanbul University. She left in her third year to follow her dream of acting on stage. She later joined Haliç University Conservatory. There, she completed her theatre studies. Today, she teaches acting at Haliç University.
In 2004, Birce joined the Miss Turkey beauty contest. She finished in 3rd place. After that, she represented Turkey in the Miss Europe contest. Her cousin, Barış Murat Yağcı, is also an actor.
Starting Her Acting Journey
Birce Akalay first appeared on TV in 2007. She had a small role in the popular series Asi. In the same year, she acted in her first movie, Son Ders: Aşk ve Üniversite.
She got her first main role on TV in the series Kader. She played a character named Lamia. Later that year, she also starred in Senin Uğruna.
In 2010, Birce's career really took off. She played Havva in the series Yer Gök Aşk. This role was loved by many people.
