Bister is a small town, also called a municipality, located in Switzerland. It's found in the Valais region, specifically in the Raron district.

History of Bister
Bister has a long history! It was first written about in the year 1374. Back then, its name was spelled Bystur. Later, in 1480, people called it Bistar.
Where is Bister?
Bister covers an area of about 5.8 square kilometers (or 2.2 square miles). A big part of this land, about 40%, is covered by forests. About 18% of the land is used for farming. Only a tiny bit, 0.3%, has buildings or roads. The rest, about 41%, is land that can't be used for farming or building.
Bister is in the Östlich-Raron district. It's made up of houses spread out on the sides of the valleys.
Bister's Coat of Arms
Every town has a special symbol called a coat of arms. Bister's coat of arms is divided into two colors: blue and black. At the bottom, there are green hills rising from wavy silver water. On top of the hills, there is a golden wheat ear.
