Termen is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Valais area of Switzerland. It is part of the Brig district. This charming place is known for its beautiful mountain views.

History of Termen
Termen was first written about in the year 1201. Back then, it was called Terman. This means the town has a long history, going back over 800 years!
Geography and Landscape
Termen covers an area of about 18.8 square kilometers (about 7.2 square miles). A big part of this land, about 42%, is used for farming. Forests cover another 27% of the area.
The town sits on a high flat area, or plateau, to the east of a larger town called Brig. Termen includes the main village of Termen itself. It also has smaller groups of houses, called hamlets, named Hasel and z'Matt. There is even a ski resort called Rosswald within the municipality.
Termen's Coat of Arms
Every town has a special symbol, like a flag or a coat of arms. Termen's coat of arms is white with two black swords crossed over each other. This design is called Argent, two Swords Sable in saltire.
People of Termen
Termen has a population of about 875 people (as of 2023). Most people in Termen speak German as their main language. A smaller number of people speak Albanian or French.
In 2000, about 27% of the people living in Termen were children and teenagers (under 20 years old). About 60% were adults (20-64 years old). The remaining 13% were seniors (over 64 years old).
