Mörel was a small town, or municipality, in Switzerland. It was located in the Valais canton, which is like a state or region. Mörel was part of the Raron district. In 2009, Mörel joined with another town called Filet. Together, they formed a new municipality named Mörel-Filet.

History of Mörel

Mörel is a very old place. The first time it was ever written about was in the year 1203. Back then, its name was spelled Morgi.

Geography of Mörel

Mörel used to be the main town of the Östlich Raron district. This was before it joined with Filet. The town is located right next to the Rhone river. It sits on the right bank of the river, in a small curve.
