Black Lake is a beautiful lake located in Ontario, Canada. It's found in a part of the Algoma District that isn't divided into smaller towns. This lake is special because it's part of the huge Great Lakes Basin. This means that all the water from Black Lake eventually flows into the famous Great Lakes.

Where is Black Lake Located?

Black Lake is in Northeastern Ontario. It sits within a geographic area called LeCaron Township. This area is part of the Unorganized North Algoma District. "Unorganized" means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.

How Does Water Flow In and Out of Black Lake?

Water is always on the move, and Black Lake is no different!

Inflows: Water Coming In

Black Lake gets its water from a few small streams. These streams are called "inflows."

  • Two streams flow into the lake from the west side.
  • One of these western streams brings water from a nearby place called Portage Lake.
  • Two more streams flow into Black Lake from the northeast side.

Outflows: Water Flowing Out

The main way water leaves Black Lake is through a creek. This creek flows out from the southeast part of the lake.

  • This unnamed creek first flows into Endikai Lake.
  • From Endikai Lake, the water travels through the West Little White River.
  • Then it joins the Little White River.
  • Finally, the water flows into the Mississagi River.
  • The Mississagi River then carries the water all the way to the North Channel on Lake Huron. Lake Huron is one of the five Great Lakes!
