The Blackledge River is a stream that flows into another, larger river. It is a tributary of the Salmon River. This river travels about 16.4 miles (26.4 km) through eastern Connecticut in the United States.
The Blackledge River starts at Sperry Pond in Bolton. As it flows, it gathers water from smaller streams. It eventually joins the Jeremy River in Colchester, Connecticut. The Salmon River, which is a major tributary of the Connecticut River, begins right where the Blackledge and Jeremy rivers meet.
Fun on the River
The Blackledge River is a great spot for outdoor adventures. Many people enjoy whitewater paddling here. This means floating down the river in a canoe or kayak, especially where the water flows quickly.
Paddling Adventures
A popular paddling route starts near West Road. This spot is about 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Gay City State Park. Along this route, you'll find many Class I-II whitewater rapids. These are sections where the water moves fast and can be exciting to paddle through. The route continues all the way to the Salmon River.
