Blackville is a small town located in Barnwell County, South Carolina, United States. In 2020, about 1,923 people lived there.
The town got its name from Alexander Black. He was a person who helped build railroads in the area.

History of Blackville
On December 22, 1781, a battle happened near Blackville. This was during the American Revolution. A group of British supporters, called Loyalists, fought against local American fighters, known as Patriots.
Sixteen Patriots were killed in this fight. The place was known as "Windy Hill" then. Later, it was called "Slaughter Hill" because of the battle. A famous South Carolina politician, Solomon Blatt, Sr., was born in Blackville. He served in the state government for a long time.
Where is Blackville?
Blackville is in the northeastern part of Barnwell County. You can find it at these coordinates: 33°21′25″N 81°16′22″W / 33.35694°N 81.27278°W.
U.S. Route 78 goes right through the town. This road can take you about 31 miles west to Aiken. Or, you can go about 15 miles east to Bamberg.
South Carolina Highway 3 also passes nearby. It leads southwest about 9 miles to Barnwell. Barnwell is the main town, or "county seat," for Barnwell County.
The United States Census Bureau says Blackville covers about 9.03 square miles. Most of this area is land, and a small part is water.

God's Acre Healing Springs is a very special piece of land in Blackville. What makes it unique is that its legal owner is said to be "God Almighty."
This land has a natural spring. Local stories say that the water from this spring has healing powers. People have believed this for a long time.
