The Story of Bleed the Dream
How the Band Started (2003-2005)
The band Bleed the Dream started in the spring of 2003. Keith Thompson and Brandon Thomas formed the group in Los Angeles. They had both moved there from Baltimore.
For the next year, the band traveled a lot. They played many shows and improved their sound. This helped them get a spot on the Van's Warped Tour in 2004. They played on the tour again in 2005.
In 2004, Dave Aguilera, the band's guitarist, started his own music label. It was called Maphia Records. This label released two mini-albums (EPs) for the band. These EPs were "Awake" and an acoustic one called "Asleep". The band also released a DVD called No Apologies. It showed footage from their tours.
Kevin Lyman, who created the Warped Tour, started his own record label. It was called Warcon Enterprises. He signed Bleed the Dream to his label. Their first full album, Built By Blood, came out in May 2005.
In spring 2005, Bleed the Dream joined the Taste of Chaos tour. They played with popular bands like The Used and My Chemical Romance. Sadly, during this time, their drummer Scott Gottlieb became very ill. He was diagnosed with leukemia. Scott passed away on April 10, 2005. This was just two weeks before their album Built by Blood was released.
New Music and a Break (2006-2007)
Bleed the Dream finished 2005 by touring Europe. They were part of the Taste of Chaos Europe tour. In December, the band took a break from touring to write new songs. In January 2006, Tom Breyfogle became their new drummer.
On May 24, 2006, the band announced a change. Brandon Thomas would no longer be the singer. Mark Holmes, from the band Like Yesterday, took his place. Mark sang for Bleed the Dream from 2006 to 2007.
In April 2006, Bleed the Dream toured the U.K. They supported the band Story of the Year. After that, they toured Japan with other bands.
In July 2006, the band recorded a new album. They made it in Canada with producers Garth Richardson and Ben Caplan. The album was called Killer Inside. Later in 2006, they filmed a music video for "Closer." This was the first song from Killer Inside.
On September 24, 2007, Bleed the Dream shared some news. They announced that they were taking a break. They said they were "calling it quits" after many years.
Getting Back Together (2014-Present)
In 2014, Brandon Thomas returned as the lead singer. The next year, the band announced they would reunite. They planned to record a new mini-album (EP). Christian Rivera, who had worked with the band for a long time, joined as a permanent guitar player.
In 2017, Bleed the Dream started working on another new EP. Matt Halpern from the band Periphery played drums for them.
Where Bleed the Dream Played
Bleed the Dream has played on several big tours. These include the Taste of Chaos Tour and the Van's Warped Tour. They also appeared in a Warped Tour documentary called Wake Up Screaming.
Their song "Streets of Baltimore" was played on TV. It was heard by many people during a FOX broadcast of a Baltimore Ravens football game. This happened on November 19, 2006. More recently, they joined Japanese rock band Dir En Grey on their INWARD SCREAM TOUR 07. That tour started on February 1, 2007, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
