About Bleona's Life and Career

Bleona Qereti was born on May 14, 1985, in Korçë, Albania. Her parents are Oli and Nazmi Qereti.

Early Life and Music Beginnings

Bleona started singing when she was just 5 years old. She joined a group called the House of Pionieri. When she was 13, her parents wanted her to focus on school. But Bleona loved singing and kept going with her dream. At 14, she got her first big role as the lead singer for the Skampa Theater in Elbasan.

When she was 15, Bleona performed at the Albanian National Music Festival. This made her very famous in Albania. Soon after, she released her first song, "Lermeni (Let Me Be Free)." A year later, her first album, Kam Qejfin Tim (I Run My Own Game), came out. That same year, Bleona went on her first big tour. She performed 25 shows in Switzerland and Germany. Bleona can speak and sing in English, Albanian, Italian, and German. She also studied acting and plays the violin.

Music Success in Europe

From 1998 to 2002, Bleona released four albums. All of them were very popular in southeastern Europe. In 1999, she led a tour to help people in Kosovo, performing many concerts across Europe. From 2000 to 2001, she did over 80 concerts. By 2002, she was the main performer at big outdoor concerts and festivals. Expanding to the United States

Bleona first toured in the United States in 2004. A club invited her to New York City to perform at Webster Hall. Since then, she has continued to perform in the United States, the Middle East, and Europe.

Her 2005 album, Boom Boom, had songs in both English and Albanian. That same year, her song "S'dua" won an award at the "Magic Song Festival Awards." This is like Albania's version of the Grammy Awards. In 2006, Bleona received the "Excellent Career Award." She was the youngest person ever to get this award in Albania. Her eighth album, Mandarin, sold over 800,000 copies in 2007. This broke her own sales record. In 2008, Bleona won two more awards for her song "Magnetic" at the "Magic Song Festival Awards."
