Blissfield is a village in Lenawee County, Michigan. In 2020, about 3,277 people lived there. The village is mostly in Blissfield Township. Small parts also reach into Palmyra Township and Riga Township.
The Blissfield post office first opened on March 28, 1828. The town is named after Hervey Bliss. He was the first white settler in the area in 1824. He also became the first postmaster.

Blissfield's Past: A Look Back
Important Moments in History
During World War II, some German POWs (prisoners of war) were working on a sugar beet farm near Blissfield. Sadly, 16 of them died in an accident. Their truck crashed with a train while they were returning to Fort Custer. They are now buried at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
There's a local story about Blissfield having the world's first "Triple Bridges." These were three bridges right next to each other. They crossed the River Raisin. One was for trains, and two were for cars. Later, the interurban bridge was removed. A larger road bridge replaced the other two.
In 2014, Blissfield's village hall moved. It went to a former bank building in the business area. The police department also moved to this new spot. It is now very close to the Township offices.
Blissfield High School Sports
Blissfield High School is home to the Royals sports teams. The baseball team has won seven state championships! The girls' volleyball team won their first state title in 2005.

Blissfield has three special places listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These are important buildings and areas. They include the Blissfield Downtown Historic District, the David Carpenter House, and the First Presbyterian Church of Blissfield.

Blissfield covers about 2.30 square miles (5.96 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 2.24 square miles (5.80 square kilometers). A small part, about 0.06 square miles (0.16 square kilometers), is water.
The village is located in three different townships. These are Blissfield, Palmyra, and Riga. Most of the village, about 98.7%, is in Blissfield Township. In 2010, almost everyone lived in Blissfield Township. Only eight people lived in Palmyra Township. No one lived in the Riga Township part of the village.
