Robert F. Sauvé (born June 17, 1955) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He was a talented goalie in the NHL. After retiring from playing, he became a player agent, helping other hockey players with their careers.

Starting in Junior Hockey

  • Bob had a great junior hockey career. He played for the Laval National in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
  • In 1975, the NHL team Buffalo Sabres picked him. He was the 17th player chosen overall in the 1975 NHL Entry Draft.
  • Another league, the WHA, also drafted him. But Bob really wanted to play in the NHL.
  • The Sabres picked three goalies that year. Bob and Don Edwards were the most famous ones.

Making it to the NHL

  • Bob played a few games for the Sabres in the 1976–77 season. But he spent most of that year playing for a minor league team.
  • The next season, he split his time between the Sabres and another minor league team. He was a backup goalie for Don Edwards.
  • By the 1978–79 season, Bob was determined to stay in the NHL.
  • He got called up to Buffalo and became a full-time NHL player.

Winning Awards and Playing with Stars

  • Bob and Don Edwards became a strong goalie team for the Sabres.
  • In the 1979–80 season, Bob was the best goalie in the league. He had the lowest goals against average.
  • He and Don Edwards shared the Vezina Trophy that year. This award goes to the best goalie in the NHL.
