Boca Chita Key is a small island in Biscayne National Park, Florida. It is part of the upper Florida Keys and is located in Miami-Dade County. The island sits in Biscayne Bay, just north of another island called Sands Key.
This beautiful key is a popular spot for visitors. It has a special lighthouse that is about 65 feet (20 meters) tall. This lighthouse is not used for navigation anymore; it was built just for decoration by a past owner of the island.

Boating and Harbor
The island has a harbor where boats can easily tie up. There is a strong wall, called a bulkhead, with special hooks, called cleats, for boats to attach to. This makes it a safe place for boats to stop and visit.
Camping and Facilities
If you like camping, Boca Chita Key has a campground. You'll find picnic tables there, perfect for outdoor meals. The island also has saltwater toilets. It's important to know that there is no fresh water or electricity available on the island. So, campers need to bring their own supplies.
Boca Chita Key Historic District
On the northwest side of the island, you'll find the Boca Chita Key Historic District. This area is special because it has old buildings and structures, including the famous Boca Chita lighthouse. These historic places tell stories about the island's past.
Don't Get Confused!
Boca Chita Key is sometimes mixed up with another island called Boca Chica Key. Even though their names sound similar, they are very different places. Boca Chica Key is located over a hundred miles southwest, in the lower Florida Keys. So, make sure you know which "Boca" you're talking about!
