Bondan Prakoso's Journey in Music
Early Life and Child Stardom
Bondan Prakoso was born on May 8, 1982. He was the second of three children in his family. Bondan started his music career very early. When he was just 8 years old, he became a famous child singer. He released eight albums between 1988 and 1995.
Playing Bass with Funky Kopral
In the late 1990s, Bondan and his friends formed a rock band called Funky Kopral. The original members included Angga, Robbi, Kristo, and Onci. They released three albums from 1999 to 2003. Their music was released by Universal Music. In 2002, Iman joined the band as the new guitarist. Funky Kopral eventually broke up in late 2003. Later, the band reformed, but Bondan and Iman moved on to new projects. Iman joined the band J-Rocks, and Bondan started a new collaboration.
Creating Music with Fade 2 Black
After Funky Kopral, Bondan Prakoso started a new music project. He teamed up with a hip-hop group called Fade2Black. The members of Fade2Black are Tito (Titz), Ari (Santoz), and Eza (Lezzano).
How Bondan and Fade 2 Black Met
Bondan, a well-known bass player, often talked about music with Tito (Titz). Tito was a rapper from the group Fade2Black. Even though they came from different music styles, they were college friends. They both studied Dutch literature at the University of Indonesia.
In late 2003, Bondan decided to leave Funky Kopral. He wanted more freedom to create his own music. In 2004, Bondan had an idea to mix different music styles. He asked Titz to join him in a new music project. Titz suggested that his whole group, Fade2Black, should join. Bondan liked this idea. So, the project included Bondan and three rappers: Titz, Santoz, and Lezano.
Making Their First Album: RESPECT
By late 2004, they started working on their new music. They combined rap, rock, and funk elements. Bondan was in charge of the music, instruments, and arrangements. Fade2Black focused on writing the lyrics.
It took them four months to finish their first album. In August 2005, their album RESPECT was released. It was released by Sony BMG Music Indonesia. This album featured rap vocals from Titz, Santoz, and Lezano. Bondan also sang on some of the songs.
Their hard work paid off! They received several awards for RESPECT:
- They were featured as an MTV Indonesia Exclusive artist in November 2005.
- They won the MTV Advance Warning award in November 2005.
- They won the Indonesian Music Award (AMI) in 2006 for Best Rap Album Production.
