Achal Surinder "Boney" Kapoor was born on November 11, 1955. He is a famous Indian film producer. He mainly works in Hindi cinema, but also in Tamil and Telugu cinema.

Early Life and Family
Boney Kapoor was born as Achal Surinder Kapoor in 1955. His father, Surinder Kapoor, was also a Bollywood film producer. Boney grew up in a Punjabi Hindu family.
He has two younger brothers, Anil and Sanjay. Both of his brothers are well-known actors and producers in the film industry.
His Journey in Films
Boney Kapoor began his career by working with famous filmmakers. He learned a lot from them.
Producing Hit Movies
One of his most famous films is Mr. India, released in 1987. It was a science fiction movie directed by Shekhar Kapur. His brother Anil Kapoor and his future wife Sridevi starred in it.
Mr. India was one of the biggest hits of 1987. It is still loved by many people today. The film is known for its memorable lines and songs. Sridevi's "Miss Hawa Hawaii" performance was very popular. Also, Amrish Puri's line "Mogambo khush hua" (meaning 'Mogambo is pleased') became very famous.
The music by Laxmikant–Pyarelal was also a big hit. The song "Hawa Hawaii" is still popular. Mr. India is often listed among the best Bollywood films ever made. It was even called one of the "100 Greatest Indian Films of All Time."
Boney Kapoor also helped start the careers of many actors. His film Hum Paanch helped actors like Mithun Chakraborty become famous. He launched his brother Anil Kapoor with Woh Saat Din. He also launched his younger brother Sanjay Kapoor and actress Tabu with the film Prem. Actress Esha Deol was launched in Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe.
In 1993, he produced Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. This was one of the most expensive Hindi films at that time. In 1997, he produced Judaai, which was a big success. It starred Sridevi, Anil Kapoor, and Urmila Matondkar.
Films in the 2000s
In 2000, Boney Kapoor produced Pukar. This film starred Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit. It was praised by critics and did well at the box office. Pukar won two National Film Awards. Anil Kapoor also won an award for his acting in the film.
In 2002, he produced Company, directed by Ram Gopal Varma. This film was about crime and received good reviews. It won several awards at the Filmfare Awards. Company is seen as an important film that introduced a new style of crime movies in India.
His 2004 film Run did not do well at first. However, it later became popular for its funny scenes, especially one with Vijay Raaz. After that, he produced the comedy film No Entry in 2005. This film became Bollywood's biggest hit of that year.
Recent Successes
In 2009, Kapoor produced Wanted, starring Salman Khan. This film broke many box office records. It was the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2009. It earned a lot of money in India and other countries.
Boney Kapoor also produced remakes of the 2016 Hindi film Pink. He made the Tamil version, Nerkonda Paarvai, in 2019. This film was very successful. In 2021, he produced the Telugu version, Vakeel Saab. This film also did very well. These films marked his first time producing in Tamil and Telugu cinema.
In 2023, Boney Kapoor also tried acting! He played a supporting role as Ranbir Kapoor's father in the film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar.
Personal Life
Boney Kapoor was married to Mona Shourie from 1983 to 1996. They have two children: Arjun Kapoor (born in 1985) and Anshula (born in 1990). Arjun Kapoor is now a famous actor. Anshula studied at Barnard College.

Boney Kapoor married Indian actress Sridevi in 1996. They had two daughters: Janhvi Kapoor (born in 1997) and Khushi Kapoor (born in 2000). Sadly, Sridevi passed away in 2018. The Kapoor family of Prithviraj Kapoor are also distant relatives of Boney Kapoor's family.
