Meet Thomas Brent "Boo" Weekley, an American professional golfer born on July 23, 1973. He's known for his exciting play on the PGA Tour, one of the biggest golf tours in the world!

Boo Weekley's Golf Journey

Boo Weekley was born in Milton, Florida. He became a professional golfer in 1997. For a few years, he played on smaller golf tours. In 2002, he earned his way onto the PGA Tour. This is a big step for any golfer!

After a tough first year, Boo played on the Nationwide Tour (now called the Korn Ferry Tour). He worked hard and qualified for the PGA Tour again in 2006. His first big win came in April 2007 at the Verizon Heritage tournament. This victory helped him climb higher in the world golf rankings.

In 2007, Boo also represented the United States at the 2007 Omega Mission Hills World Cup. He teamed up with Heath Slocum and they finished in second place.

Highlight Moments

In 2008, Boo Weekley won the Verizon Heritage tournament for a second time! This showed everyone he was a top player. He also became very well-known during the 2008 Ryder Cup. This is a special team competition between the USA and Europe. Boo played incredibly well and helped the U.S. team win. He even famously rode his golf driver like a horse down the first fairway!

Boo's nickname, "Boo," comes from Boo Boo Bear, a character from the cartoon Yogi Bear.

Before golf, Boo studied turfgrass science at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He even worked cleaning large tanks at a chemical plant! He started his professional golf career on a tour co-founded by his friend Heath Slocum's father. Boo and Heath went to high school together and played on the golf team. Boo looks up to golf legend Ben Hogan.

In May 2013, Boo won the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas. This was his first win in five years, and he beat Matt Kuchar by just one stroke!

Facing Challenges

Like many athletes, Boo has faced challenges with injuries. Since 2017, these injuries have made it harder for him to play as often. He took breaks from playing professional golf.

Even though he doesn't have full-time status on the PGA Tour anymore, Boo still plays in some events. He can do this because he's a past champion. In August 2023, Boo started playing on the PGA Tour Champions, a tour for golfers aged 50 and over.
