Thomas Brent Weekley, known as "Boo", is an American professional golfer. He was born on July 23, 1973. Boo plays golf professionally on the PGA Tour Champions.

About Boo Weekley

Boo Weekley was born in Milton, Florida. He became a professional golfer in 1997. For a few years, he played on smaller golf tours. In 2002, he earned a spot on the main PGA Tour.

After a tough first year, he played on the Nationwide Tour (now called the Korn Ferry Tour) from 2003 to 2006. He played well enough in 2006 to get back onto the PGA Tour.

First Big Wins

Boo's first big win came in April 2007 at the Verizon Heritage tournament. This victory helped him reach a new high in the Official World Golf Rankings. Later that year, he represented the United States at the 2007 Omega Mission Hills World Cup with his friend Heath Slocum, finishing in second place.

In 2008, Boo won the Verizon Heritage again! This made him one of the top 25 golfers in the world. He became very well-known during the 2008 Ryder Cup. He played some amazing golf and even rode his golf driver like a "cowboy horse" down the first fairway, which many fans remember.

Where Did "Boo" Come From?

Boo Weekley's nickname "Boo" comes from Boo Boo Bear, the sidekick of the cartoon character Yogi Bear.

Early Life and Career

Boo went to Milton High School. He then studied turfgrass science at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He played on the golf team there for one year before returning home. He once worked cleaning large ammonia tanks at a chemical plant.

He started his professional golf journey on the Developmental Players Tour (DP Tour). This tour was co-founded by Jack Slocum, the father of his friend and fellow golfer Heath Slocum. Boo and Heath played golf together in high school. Boo looks up to the famous golfer Ben Hogan as his hero.

In May 2013, Boo won the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas. He beat another great golfer, Matt Kuchar, by just one stroke. This was his first win in five years.

Recent Years and Injuries

Since 2017, injuries have made it hard for Boo to play golf regularly. He had tendinitis, which is when a tendon gets swollen and painful. He didn't play any professional events between July 2017 and January 2019.

He also took a break from November 2019 until June 2022. Boo no longer plays full-time on the PGA Tour. However, he still gets to play in some events because he is a past champion.

In August 2023, Boo Weekley started playing on the PGA Tour Champions. This tour is for professional golfers aged 50 and older.
