Bovina is a small town located in Delaware County, New York, United States. In 2020, about 658 people lived there. The town got its name "Bovina" from General Erastus Root. He thought the area was perfect for grazing animals, like cows. Bovina is an inland town in the eastern part of Delaware County.

Bovina's History
The town of Bovina was created in 1820. It was formed from parts of three other towns: Delhi, Stamford, and Middletown. When it was first established, Bovina had about 1,200 residents.
The population grew for a while, reaching its highest point in the 1840s. After that, the number of people living in Bovina slowly started to decrease. In the late 1800s, Bovina became well-known for its excellent dairy products, especially its butter.
A special place called the Burns Family Farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. This means it's an important historical site.
Bovina's Geography
Bovina is known for having some of the highest land in Delaware County. The highest point in the town is over 3,340 feet (1,018 meters) above sea level. This high spot is on an unnamed mountain peak in the eastern part of Bovina. From there, you can see the Plattekill Mountain ski area in the nearby town of Roxbury.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the total area of Bovina is about 44.5 square miles (115.2 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 44.3 square miles (114.6 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.23 square miles (0.6 square kilometers), is water.
