Middletown is a town located in Delaware County, New York, United States. In 2020, about 3,336 people lived here. The town is found in the southeastern part of Delaware County.

History of Middletown

Middletown was first created in 1789. It was formed from parts of two other towns: Rochester and Woodstock. This happened even before Delaware County was officially formed. Over time, parts of Middletown were used to create new towns, making Middletown a bit smaller than it was originally.

Geography and Natural Features

Middletown is located in a beautiful area. Its southeastern border touches Ulster County. To the northeast, it shares a border with Greene County. A large part of the eastern side of Middletown is inside the Catskill Park. This park is known for its stunning mountains and forests.

The town covers a total area of about 252 square kilometers (97.3 square miles). Most of this area, about 250.4 square kilometers (96.7 square miles), is land. The rest, about 1.6 square kilometers (0.6 square miles), is water. The East Branch Delaware River flows through the town. It runs from the northeast to the southwest.
