Boxtel is a town and a municipality (a type of local government area) in the southern Netherlands. The name "Boxtel" comes from an older name, "Buchestelle." This name likely means a "stable" or "safe place" for deer.
The Van Boxtel family, which has many relatives in North Brabant, got their name from this town. Boxtel was also the location of an important battle in September 1794. This battle is often remembered because it was the first time Arthur Wellesley, who later became a famous general, fought in a major battle.
