The Boyne River is a cool river in Ontario, Canada. It flows through Simcoe County and Dufferin County. This river is part of the huge Great Lakes Basin. It eventually joins the Nottawasaga River. The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority helps take care of the Boyne River.
Where Does the Boyne River Start and End?
The Boyne River begins at a small, unnamed pond. This pond is in Melancthon, a part of Dufferin County. The pond is located between a railway line and Ontario Highway 10.
From there, the river flows southeast. It passes by the town of Shelburne. Then, it turns and flows east-northeast. It generally follows along Ontario Highway 89.
Journey Through Parks and Towns
The Boyne River enters Mulmur. It flows through the beautiful Boyne Valley Provincial Park. After that, it enters Adjala–Tosorontio in Simcoe County.
The river continues its journey through Earl Rowe Provincial Park. It briefly goes through New Tecumseth, near the community of Alliston. Finally, the Boyne River reaches its end. It flows into the Nottawasaga River in Essa. The Nottawasaga River then flows into Georgian Bay, which is part of Lake Huron.
