Brading Marshes Nature Reserve
Brading Marshes is located on the east side of the Isle of Wight, near Bembridge Harbour. The RSPB bought this land in 2001 to help protect its unique environment.
What Makes Brading Marshes Special?
This reserve is a mix of different habitats. You'll find calm lagoons and narrow ditches. There are also tall reed beds and open meadows. A small area of very old woodland borders the reserve.
Long ago, this land was actually part of the sea! It was "reclaimed" from the sea at the end of the 19th century. This means people built walls or drained the water to turn it into farmland.
