Brambleton is a special kind of community called a census-designated place (CDP). It is located in Loudoun County, Virginia, in the United States. You can find it just south of the Dulles Greenway.

In 2010, about 9,845 people lived in Brambleton. By 2017, the population grew to around 19,900 people! The average age of people living here was about 34.3 years old. Most households in Brambleton earned a good income, around $173,690 in 2017. Building the Brambleton community started in 2001.

Exploring Brambleton's Location

Brambleton is in the southeastern part of Loudoun County. It's about 11 miles (18 km) south of Leesburg, which is the main town of the county. It's also very close to Washington Dulles International Airport, just 1.3 miles (2.1 km) northwest.

If you drive from Brambleton, you'll reach downtown Washington, D.C. in about 33 miles (53 km). Nearby communities include Broadlands to the north and Arcola to the south. To the west, you'll find more open, rural areas.

Land and Water in Brambleton

Brambleton covers a total area of about 5.8 square miles (15.0 square kilometers). A small part of this, about 0.04 square miles (0.1 square kilometers), is water. The water in the community flows into Beaverdam Run and Broad Run. Both of these are part of the larger Potomac River system.

Life in a Planned Community

Brambleton is known as a planned community. This means it was carefully designed before it was built. It covers a large area of about 2,500 acres (10 square kilometers) near Ashburn in Loudoun County.

What Brambleton Offers

The plan for Brambleton includes over 9,000 homes. It also has a special area called the Town Center. This center has many shops, restaurants, and offices. There are also smaller shopping areas closer to the neighborhoods.

Brambleton was designed to feel like a traditional neighborhood. It has lots of places for people to walk and enjoy the outdoors. The community has four swimming pools and more than 18 miles (29 km) of public trails. You can also find parks and sports courts here. Several public schools for Loudoun County are located within Brambleton. There are also two Winwood childcare centers and two Chesterbrook Academy pre-schools.

Brambleton's Past

Brambleton is built on the site of an older community called Royville. Royville existed as early as 1908. Before that, some of the land was part of a large farm owned by Thomas Lewis.

The real work to develop Brambleton started in 1999. This was when Brambleton Group L.L.C. bought the land. To connect Brambleton to the main roads, new road improvements were made. These helped link Brambleton to the Loudoun County Parkway and the Dulles Greenway.

People who live in Brambleton are part of the Brambleton Community Association. This is a group that helps manage the community.

The Heart of Brambleton: Town Center

The Town Center in Brambleton is a busy place! It has over 50 different stores, restaurants, and entertainment spots. You can also find doctors' offices and public spaces there.

The Town Center is where many fun community events happen. These include the annual Sizzlin' Summer Concerts, a Farmers' Market, and the Race Brambleton Series. It's a central spot for everyone to gather and enjoy.
