The Bras des Canots is a river in Quebec, Canada. It flows into the Valin River. Most of the Bras des Canots runs through the beautiful Monts-Valin National Park.
This river is located in the unorganized territory of Mont-Valin, which is part of the Le Fjord-du-Saguenay Regional County Municipality. There are some forest roads near the river. These roads are used for logging and for people who want to visit the area for fun activities like hiking or fishing.
Usually, the surface of the Bras des Canots freezes from late November to early April. It's generally safe to walk or play on the ice from mid-December to the end of March.

Where the Bras des Canots Flows
The Bras des Canots is surrounded by many other rivers and lakes. Here are some of its neighbors:
- To the north: Moncouche Lake, Doumic lake, and the Nisipi River.
- To the east: Martin-Valin Lake and the Sainte-Marguerite River.
- To the south: The Valin River and the mighty Saguenay River.

River's Journey
The Bras des Canots starts at Duck Lake, which is about 0.4 kilometres (0.25 mi) long and sits at an altitude of 795 metres (2,608 ft). This starting point is located about 15.5 kilometres (9.6 mi) north of where the Bras des Canots ends.
From Duck Lake, the river flows for a total of 29.1 kilometres (18.1 mi).
Upper Part of the River
In its upper section, the Bras des Canots travels about 16.4 kilometres (10.2 mi).
- It flows southwest, then crosses Buttercup Lake, which is about 2.0 kilometres (1.2 mi) long.
- The river then goes through another unnamed lake.
- After that, it reaches a narrow bay on the northwest side of lac Martin-Valin.
- Finally, it crosses lac Martin-Valin, which is a significant part of its journey in this section.
Lower Part of the River
The lower section of the Bras des Canots is about 12.7 kilometres (7.9 mi) long.
- It flows southwest, reaching a bay on the north shore of Lac aux Canots.
- The river then crosses Lac aux Canots, which is at an altitude of 641 metres (2,103 ft).
- It continues southwest through a deep valley.
- The river then turns south, still in a deep valley, until it reaches its end.
Where the River Ends
The Bras des Canots empties into the north bank of the Valin River. This meeting point is about 14.1 kilometres (8.8 mi) north of where the Valin River itself ends.
From this point, the water from the Bras des Canots joins the Valin River. Then, it flows into the Saguenay River. Eventually, the water reaches Tadoussac and merges with the huge Saint Lawrence River.
