Brian Skinner, born on May 19, 1976, is an American who used to play professional basketball. He was a tall player, standing 6 feet 9 inches (206 cm) and weighing 255 pounds (116 kg). He played as a power forward or center.

Brian went to Baylor University for college. After college, he was chosen by the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the 1998 NBA draft. He was the 22nd player picked overall.

Brian's Basketball Journey

Starting in the NBA

Brian Skinner began his professional basketball career in 1998 with the Los Angeles Clippers. He played for them for a few years before moving to other teams. Over his career, he played for many different teams in the NBA. These teams included the Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, and Memphis Grizzlies.

Sometimes, players are traded between teams. Brian was traded to the Chicago Bulls and the Toronto Raptors at different times. However, he never actually played a game for either of those teams.

A Great Season with the Kings

One of Brian's best seasons was during 2004–2005 when he played for the Sacramento Kings. During this time, he scored about 7.4 points per game. He was also very good at shooting, making 55.4 percent of his shots.

He was also excellent at getting rebounds, grabbing about 8.7 rebounds per game. Rebounds are when a player gets the ball after a shot is missed. Brian also set a personal best for blocks that season, with 1.7 blocks per game. A block is when a player stops an opponent's shot.

Moving Around the League

After his time with the Kings, Brian was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in early 2006. Later that year, he was traded back to the Milwaukee Bucks. He played for the Bucks again during the 2006–2007 season. In that season, he averaged 4.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

In September 2007, Brian signed a one-year deal with the Phoenix Suns. He later returned to play for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2008 and again in 2009. In 2010, he joined the Milwaukee Bucks for a third time.

Playing Overseas and Finishing Up

In January 2011, Brian went to play basketball in Italy. He signed with a team called Benetton Treviso. Later in 2011, he joined the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA. However, he was released from the team in December 2011, which marked the end of his professional playing career.

Brian Skinner has two daughters, Avery and Madisen, who are also very talented athletes. They both play volleyball and have won national championships in college!

  • Avery won an NCAA championship with the University of Kentucky in 2020. She also played for the United States national team and won a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
  • Madisen also won an NCAA championship with Kentucky in 2020. She then won two more NCAA championships with the University of Texas in 2022 and 2023.
