Brittany Brooks' Early Life and Music Journey

Brittany Brooks was born in Oakland, California. She grew up in a nearby town called Pittsburg, California.

School Days and Marching Band

Brittany finished Pittsburg High School in 2004. While in high school, she played the snare drum in the school's marching band. She even performed with the band in parades at famous theme parks like Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Florida.

After high school, Brittany moved to Los Angeles in 2006. She then graduated in 2007 from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. At the Institute, she appeared in TV commercials for the school on BET. She also studied and worked at California State University, Northridge.

How Brittany Started Playing Drums

Brittany started playing drums when she was 12 years old. Her older brother, Chad, had started playing the trombone two years before her. She was inspired to follow in his musical footsteps.

Over the years, Brittany has played with many different bands. She performed with cover bands like BandShe. She also played with rising artists such as Afrosparks, Scotty G. and the Get Down, and Filipina rapper Liberty Jayne.

Who Inspired Brittany Brooks?

Brittany's first drum teacher was Angel Carrillo at her church. She was also greatly inspired by the famous drummer Sheila E. Sheila E's music encouraged Brittany to become a professional musician herself.

Brittany Brooks and Scarlet Fever

In June 2010, Brittany began touring with singer Cee Lo Green. She was part of his all-female backing band called Scarlet Fever. They toured to promote Cee Lo Green's song "What Part of Forever." This song was from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie soundtrack. They also promoted his album The Lady Killer.

Scarlet Fever performed on many popular TV shows. These included The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Show with David Letterman, and Saturday Night Live. They also played for BBC Radio and many other places. The main members of Scarlet Fever included Sharon Aguilar on lead guitar and violin, DANiiVORY (whose real name is Theresa Flaminio) on keyboards and background vocals, and Regina Zernay Roberts on bass guitar.

Even after touring with Cee Lo Green, members of Scarlet Fever continued to play music together. They sometimes formed new groups. For example, Sharon Aguilar, Brittany Brooks, and DANiiVORY performed with singer Sammy Allen in April 2012. Cee Lo Green even joined them on stage at one of their shows!

Miss President Band

Sharon Aguilar, Brittany Brooks, and DANiiVORY also played together with Goldielox (whose real name is Brittany Burton). They first performed as a group called In 4D.

Then, on February 10, 2013, they officially debuted as a new band called Miss President. Their music mixes different styles, from "standard pop riffs to neo-classical music." They chose the name "Miss President" because it felt "empowering" for women. They wanted to show that women can create amazing music, just like guys do, and even better!
