Where is Broad Creek Located?

Broad Creek is in the western part of Carteret County. It sits on the north side of Bogue Sound. This sound is a body of water between the mainland and a barrier island. To the west of Broad Creek is the tidal inlet called Broad Creek. To the east is another inlet called Gales Creek.

Bogue Sound is separated from the Atlantic Ocean by Bogue Banks. This is a barrier island that helps protect the coast. Bogue Banks is part of North Carolina's beautiful Crystal Coast. North of the Broad Creek community, you will find the Croatan National Forest. This is a large protected forest area.

Getting Around Broad Creek

North Carolina Highway 24 goes through Broad Creek. If you drive east on this highway, you will reach Morehead City in about 12 miles. Driving west for about 8 miles will take you to Cape Carteret.

Newport is about 7 miles northeast of Broad Creek. You can get there by taking Hibbs Road. There is also 9 Mile Road, which goes north from Broad Creek. This road leads directly to Havelock, which is about 13 miles away. Broad Creek Loop Road is a street that forms a circle through the middle of the community. It is located south of Highway 24.
