History of Broadbent
Broadbent got its name from a person named C.E. Broadbent. He started a cheese factory in this area. This factory helped the community grow.
Early Transportation
In 1915, the Coos Bay Line of the Southern Pacific Railway opened a train station here. This made it easier for people and goods to travel to and from Broadbent.
Post Office Opening
A local post office opened in Broadbent on August 19, 1916. This was an important step for the community. It allowed people to send and receive mail right in their own area.
