The Story of Broken Bow
Broken Bow was officially planned in 1882. Its name likely came from a settler who found a broken bow in a field. This field used to be a Native American camping spot. A homesteader named Wilson Hewitt suggested this name to the U.S. Post Office.
In 1884, a railroad line was built through the town. Broken Bow became an official village that same year. By 1888, it grew and became a city.
