The Broken Hills is a mountain range located in the western United States. It sits right on the border between Churchill County and Mineral County in the state of Nevada. This area is known for its rugged landscape and interesting history.

History of Discovery

The Broken Hills area became important in 1913 when two prospectors, Joseph Arthur and James Stratford, made a significant discovery. Prospectors are people who explore an area looking for valuable minerals, like gold or silver. Arthur and Stratford were the first to find "ore worth mining" in this district.

Finding ore meant they discovered rocks containing enough valuable minerals to make it worthwhile to dig them out of the ground. This discovery led to mining activities in the Broken Hills, bringing people and attention to the remote region.
