History of Brownell
Brownell began as a station along the Missouri Pacific Railroad line. The community was named after a railroad official, Mr. Brownell.
The first post office in Brownell opened in 1880. For the first eight years, it was known as Vansburgh before its name changed to Brownell in 1888.
