Bruce Travis McGill (born July 11, 1950) is an American actor. He has appeared in many movies and TV shows. He is known for his roles in films like Animal House, where he played Daniel Simpson "D-Day" Day. He was also Sheriff Dean Farley in My Cousin Vinny.
On television, Bruce McGill played Jack Dalton in the popular series MacGyver. Later, he starred as Detective Vince Korsak in the crime drama Rizzoli & Isles. He has worked with famous director Michael Mann on movies such as The Insider and Ali.

Bruce McGill was born in San Antonio, Texas. His mother, Adriel Rose, was an artist. His father, Woodrow Wilson McGill, worked in real estate and insurance.
Bruce went to Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio. After high school, he studied drama at The University of Texas at Austin. He earned a degree in drama there.

Famous Film Roles
One of McGill's most famous roles was "D-Day" in the 1978 comedy National Lampoon's Animal House. In the movie, he famously played the William Tell Overture by drumming his fingers on his throat. He even did this trick again in an episode of MacGyver to help a child sleep.
He has worked with director Michael Mann on three films. These include The Insider (1999), Ali (2001), and Collateral (2004). McGill also played important historical figures in movies. He was Ralph Houk, a baseball manager, in the film 61*. He also played Edwin M. Stanton, the Secretary of War, in Steven Spielberg's movie Lincoln.
