Bruce Travis McGill, born on July 11, 1950, is an American actor. He has appeared in many movies and TV shows. You might know him from the movie Animal House, where he played Daniel Simpson "D-Day" Day. He also played Sheriff Dean Farley in My Cousin Vinny.
On TV, Bruce McGill was known as Jack Dalton in the show MacGyver. He also played Detective Vince Korsak in the crime drama Rizzoli & Isles. He has worked with famous director Michael Mann on several films, including The Insider and Collateral.

His Early Life and Education
Bruce McGill was born in San Antonio, Texas. His mother, Adriel "Squeaky" Rose, was an artist. His father, Woodrow Wilson McGill, worked in real estate and insurance. Bruce went to Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio. Later, he studied drama at The University of Texas at Austin. He earned a degree in drama from there.
His Acting Career Begins
Bruce McGill started his acting career in 1977. One of his first and most famous roles was "D-Day" in the 1978 comedy movie National Lampoon's Animal House. He really wanted this role when he was a young actor. In the movie, he famously played the William Tell Overture by drumming his fingers on his throat. He even did this trick again in an episode of MacGyver to help a child sleep.
Working with Famous Directors
Bruce McGill has often worked with director Michael Mann. They made three movies together: The Insider (1999), Ali (2001), and Collateral (2004). He has also appeared in several TV movies for HBO. He played baseball manager Ralph Houk in 61* (2001). He also played important historical figures like CIA Director George Tenet in W. and Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton in Steven Spielberg's movie Lincoln (2012).

From 2010 to 2016, Bruce McGill played Detective Vince Korsak in the TNT show Rizzoli & Isles. Korsak was a mentor and friend to Detective Jane Rizzoli, played by Angie Harmon. He even saved her life in one episode. In another episode, his character joked about watching Animal House instead of going to college.
He also had a voice role in The Cleveland Show as Lloyd Waterman. In 2017, he appeared in an episode of NCIS. More recently, in 2021, he had a role in the NASCAR comedy series The Crew on Netflix. In 2022, he was in the TV series Reacher.
