Bryce Stuart Mackasey (born August 25, 1921 – died September 5, 1999) was an important Canadian politician and diplomat. He worked for the government in many different roles. He was a Member of Parliament (MP) twice, which means he was elected to Canada's main law-making body. He also served in the Quebec government and was even Canada's ambassador to Portugal.
Bryce Mackasey's Life and Work
Bryce Mackasey was born in Quebec City, Quebec. He became a politician with the Liberal Party. He was first elected as a Member of Parliament in 1962 for the area called Verdun. He was re-elected several times in the 1960s and 1970s.
In 1976, he decided to run for a seat in the Quebec National Assembly, which is Quebec's provincial government. He won and became a Member of the National Assembly for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. After a couple of years, he left this role.
Later, from 1978 to 1979, he briefly worked as the President of Air Canada, a major Canadian airline. In 1980, he was elected as a Member of Parliament again, this time for the Lincoln area.

In 1970, Bryce Mackasey received a special honorary doctorate from Sir George Williams University. This university later became known as Concordia University. An honorary doctorate is a degree given to someone to celebrate their achievements, even if they didn't study there.
