Leonard "Bubba" McDowell was born on November 4, 1966. He is a well-known American football coach and a former player. Bubba played as a safety in the National Football League (NFL). A safety is a defensive player who helps stop big plays. He played for seven seasons with the Houston Oilers and the Carolina Panthers. Before turning professional, he played college football at the University of Miami. The Oilers picked him in the third round of the 1989 NFL draft.

Bubba McDowell was a talented safety. He played for the Houston Oilers from 1989 to 1994. After that, he joined the Carolina Panthers in 1995. During his time as a player, he was recognized for his skills. In 1991, he was named Second-team All-Pro. This means he was one of the best players in his position that year.
