Buckhorn is a small city in Perry County, Kentucky, in the United States. In 2010, about 162 people lived there. It is known for its historic Buckhorn Presbyterian Church, a special log building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Buckhorn Children's Center and Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park are also located here.
Buckhorn got its own post office in 1902. The state government officially made Buckhorn a city in 1996.

Buckhorn's History: How It Got Its Name
People say Buckhorn got its name from an early settler named Jerry Smith. He once hunted a big deer and hung its antlers over a spring in the area.
The stream nearby is called Squabble Creek. It's thought to be named after a disagreement between Jerry Smith and his brothers.
Where Is Buckhorn Located?
Buckhorn is found at these coordinates: 37°20′45″N 83°28′16″W / 37.34583°N 83.47111°W. The city sits in a wide valley. It's near the Middle Fork of the Kentucky River and Squabble Creek.
The Buckhorn Dam and Buckhorn Lake are also close by on the river. Kentucky Route 28 goes right through the city. The city is about 0.5 square miles (1.3 square kilometers) in size, and it's all land.
