Budjerah Julum Slabb (born 17 March 2002), known by just his first name, Budjerah, is an Australian singer. He comes from Fingal Head, New South Wales. Budjerah is a Coodjinburra man from the Bundjalung nation.
His first song, "Missing You," came out in October 2020. He performed it live on the TV show The Sound. Budjerah won the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist award at the 2021 ARIA Awards. He then released his first EP, Conversations, in April 2022. After that, he started his first world tour.
In 2023, Budjerah won the Artist of the Year award at the National Indigenous Music Awards.

Early life
Budjerah Julum Slabb was born on 17 March 2002. His hometown is Fingal Head. This town is close to the border between Queensland and New South Wales.
His parents are church leaders, so he grew up singing gospel music. Budjerah shared that he listened to gospel singers like The Clark Sisters. He also sang songs by Sam Cooke. Besides singing in churches, Budjerah often performed at big events. He even sang in front of more than 18,000 people at Carrara Stadium.
Career
2019–2021: First Songs and EP
In 2019, Budjerah tried out for The Voice (Australian season 8). He sang "Climb Every Mountain" but did not make it past the first round. Later that year, he put his song "River Dry" on Triple J Unearthed.
In 2020, Budjerah started working with musician Matt Corby. Matt Corby helped produce Budjerah's first collection of songs, called an EP. In October 2020, Budjerah released his first song, "Missing You." It became very popular on Triple J radio.
In March 2021, Apple Music chose Budjerah as their newest "Up Next" artist. This program helps new and rising musicians from Australia and New Zealand. Budjerah was excited to be part of it. He said his new EP had songs about different times and feelings in his life.
His first EP, called Budjerah, was released on 26 March 2021. An EP is like a mini-album with fewer songs.
In May 2021, he released Budjerah (Live At Rainbow Valley). This EP had live versions of his songs. Other artists like Ngaiire and JK-47 also joined him on this live recording. In August 2021, a special CD version of his first EP came out.
At the 2021 ARIA Music Awards, Budjerah won the award for Breakthrough Artist. This award is for new artists who have made a big impact. On 26 November 2021, Budjerah released another song called "Wash My Sorrows Away."
2022–present: Conversations and Tours
On 25 February 2022, Budjerah announced his next EP, Conversations. It was released on 8 April 2022. He also announced his first world tour to share his music with fans everywhere.
His song "Ready for the Sky" came out in July 2022. People described it as "smooth" and "warm soul music." It showed off Budjerah's amazing voice and songwriting skills.
Budjerah also got to open for Ed Sheeran on his Australian tour in 2023. In February 2023, Budjerah released "Therapy". He said that getting help and a new point of view can be a form of therapy.
He also released the song "Video Game." The lyrics for this song were written with help from Meg Mac, Matt Corby, and Chris Collins. In June 2023, Budjerah covered the Crowded House song "Better Be Home Soon" with WILSN. This was part of Mushroom Records' 50th anniversary celebration.
