History of Buhl
A post office opened in Buhl in 1900. The city got its name from Frank H. Buhl. He was a businessperson who worked in the mining industry. Buhl officially became a city on February 25, 1901.
Geography and Water
Buhl covers a total area of about 3.56 square miles (9.22 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. About 0.21 square miles (0.54 square kilometers) is water.
Buhl's Special Water
Buhl is famous for its very pure water. This water comes from a glacial aquifer. An aquifer is like a huge underground water storage area. This one is 700 feet (213 meters) deep. It is protected by 300 feet (91 meters) of solid granite. This amazing water supply is why the city's motto is "The Finest Water in America." You can even see this motto on the town's water tower!
